We are putting up garland and red bows on the street lamps at the monument. This takes a lot of hard work. It consists of carrying lots of garland, unraveling it, putting it up, and then putting plastic zip ties on around the garland and the lamps so it will stay up. We do community service for The Bunker Hill Monument a couple of times a year. Examples: Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, etc. We are still curently doing the bread runs, and recycaling.

In project class this week we delivered bread, took out all of our recycling bins from our school, and we participated in pie in the sky. For recycling we collect all of our newspapers and other paper we would have thrown away in the trash, and put it into recycling bins located around the school. Every Tuesday we bring out the recycling bins to be collected on Wednesday. What we do for pie in the sky is we join a whole bunch of other groups that are also helping out the pie in the sky community service activity, and we make 13,000 pies altogether. The pies will be going to terminally ill people. As the holidays come closer there will be more opportunities to do community service.

Seaport Campus is still doing the bread runs to the homeless shelters, and elderly homes. Seaport's schoolwork is more hands on based. We are located in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The students enjoy the view of Boston and the harbor from outside our school. As seniors, Seaport Campus students have the opportunity to take a class per term at Bunker Hill Community College. Seaport Campus goes on many field trips, for example on Halloween we go to Salem, MA and learn about the witch trials at the witch museums.

We are currently participating in helping the community. We have been delivering bread to homeless shelters and elderly homes. Right now we are focusing on decorating the Bunker Hill Monument for Halloween. The way we are doing this is by creating body parts using cling wrap and tape. For example if I were to do my hand I would wrap it in cling wrap then tape the wrap to my hand. The tape only covers the wrap to avoid taping the skin. When that is finished I would cut the plastic mold just enough to get my hand out then tape the cut. Because we are located near Boston there are plenty of things we can do to help out the community.
